Work, Rest & Play
It takes a huge team to help run the UK’s largest County Jamboree with over 7,000 Guides and Scouts.
Get involved on the Team and alongside helping out, you’ll have time to relax and have fun. With its wide variety of activities and facilities, the Jamboree provides a variety of roles to suit all tastes.
Join The Team
If you’re 16 or over why not join the Jamboree Staff Team and help make the Jamboree happen. You could Volunteer to help set up the campsite, assist with activities or help to ensure that everyone has a great time by providing adventure and fun to thousands of young people. Why not bring a group of friends or come on your own and make some new ones!
Build and Take Down
Lend a hand both before and after the event and work with a team to help build and take down a tented village filled with shops, facilities, entertainments and activities. Being part of the build and take down is free if you are a registered member of the Jamboree Staff Team, providing you with a two week break for £65, including all your food. Build starts from the 18th July. No specific skills are required and you will be fed while you are working on site, even if you are self catering during the Jamboree week.
Applying for a Role
Please feel free to express your interest for any role you feel you can fill and the Staff Department will contact you with an alternative if your specified role has already been appointed.
Please note that some more senior roles have already been appointed, and have only been included within the website as an indication of what type of roles it takes to make a Jamboree team.
Fees
All fees include a badge, a scarf, site fees and entertainments.
Staff - £65
This fee is for adults over 16 undertaking a Staff role at the Jamboree. Your fee includes catering and a choice of live entertainment or quiet relaxation areas.
Self Catering Staff - £20
This fee is for adults over 16 undertaking a Staff role at the Jamboree but who wish to be self sufficient.
Staff Support Leaders - £20
This fee is for adults who are camping with participants but have the time to support the event by being a part time Staff member at the Jamboree.
Staff Support Leaders could offer an activity skill and tuition for a few hours, able to help marshall during the evening entertainments or able to work in one of the shops or offices. A £30 discount is available to Volunteers who are happy to offer their free time. This fee enables you to cook and sleep with your own participating group.
Part Time Staff
We are very happy to welcome people who are able to volunteer for a short period of time as a part time staff member. Your fee includes a £10 registration fee, £9 per day for catering or £2 per day for self catering. Please follow the normal staff registration process and your Team Leader will send you a copy of your part time registration form.
Build & Take Down - FREE
If you are a participant aged over 16 or not a Jamboree Staff Volunteer please download a Staff Interest Form in PDF, print and complete by hand or download the word version and complete it on your computer where it asks to indicate your Jamboree role of interest please insert BUILD and/or TAKE DOWN.

Staff members may be able to camp with units if pre-advised, however they will not be able to camp on the subcamp fields until the group they are camping with has been allocated their area on Saturday 26 July and will be required to relocate to the staff subcamp from Sunday 3 August.
Safeguarding
To protect the welfare of everyone, all Jamboree Staff over the age of 18 will be required to hold a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau disclosure) which is less than 5 years old at the time of applying to be part of the Jamboree.
Arriving On Site
Unless you are travelling in daily to the Jamboree or arriving for the build period from the 18th July, you will arrive on the 26th July. You may be asked to arrive on site earlier if your Department, or Team feels it is necessary and you are required to help setup. When you complete your Staff Registration Form please add the approximate arrival date, and if you are available to help build the Jamboree site. |

How To Get Involved
STEP ONE -
Express your interest
Take a look through the role directories here to decide where you wish to Volunteer.
Download a Staff Interest Form in PDF, print and complete by hand or download the word version and complete it on your computer.

Please do not send any deposit with your Staff Interest Form.
If your unable to decide on a particular role you wish to carry out please leave your role blank, it will help the Staff Department if you specify a department or departments you wish to Volunteer for.
Co-opted Volunteers
If you are or have been directly approached to join a Team or Department your Head of Department will send details about you to the Staff department. However you will still need to complete a Staff Registration Form. To be safe of your place on a Team you can complete a Staff Interest Form. Please ensure that your friend keeps you informed about what is going on within your team or Department.
Staff Allocations
If you submit a Staff Interest Form you will receive a letter or email from the Staff Department thanking you for volunteering. Your form will be forwarded to the Department you wish to Volunteer within. If you don't select a role or choose a role which is unavailable the Staff Department will contact you to discuss the options. The Department you are allocated to will get in contact with you shortly to say hello and give you more information about your role.
STEP TWO -
Registration and Payment
Once you have been allocated and/or approached by a Jamboree Team member they will provide you with a Staff Registration Form. Please ensure that you receive a paper version on blue or pink paper and not a photocopy. You will be required to complete this registration form, and send it back to the Staff Department with your deposit of £30(or the full payment) or the full £20 if you are attending the Jamboree as a self catering member of Staff. Please only send cheques with your Staff Registration Form, do not send cash.
The final Deadline for Staff Registrations is in June.
Don't forget to complete all the details, including obtaining a signature of your local Commissioner and a passport sized photo.
If you wish to apply as a Staff Support Leader, please ensure your group Leader knows you wish to perform this role as they will need to include you as a Staff Support Leader when they complete the unit registration form. Further details on this role can be viewed on the Group registration page.

Jungletots and MiniJams
A creche is available to Staff members with young children. Jungletots is for ages 0 to 5 and MiniJams for children aged 5 to 10. Places are limited and will be allocated to Staff on a first come first served basis.
