The theme of the Essex International Jamboree 2008

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

At Essex International Jamboree 2008, the thing that really caught my attention was the theme of this Jamboree. I was pleased to see a few minutes documentary at the opening ceremony of the Jamboree, which was about the environmental conservation and the conservation of the World’s Endangered animals. Although I have attended many Scout Events and Jamborees but it was my first time to hear about such kind of theme and I believe that everyone must have a knowledge of the problems that our Planet Earth is facing right now so that we can start feeling our responsibility as a resident of this planet and start playing our roles in order to make it peaceful, calm, green and the best place to live in. In the end I would say ‘ Mi piace jamboree a Essex’.

In The Beginning…

This is my first jamboree and I can already tell you that this is starting to kick off really well!

First of all, there was the most amazing presentation at the ceremony about pollution and endangered animals which was incredibly choreographed and well sung!

Next, there are things to do like watch movies, play games, and lots more. But one thing’s for sure… I will never forget this mind-blowing experience of mine!!!!!

The build week started on the 19Th July for staff to come to help erect the jamboree. It started out with just a couple of fields and a couple of tents and a couple of people and then more people coming threw the week to help build the jamboree, then the work really started only one thing missing all of the taps toilets and the washing facilities had to all be plumbed in and there had to be big team of electricians and plumbers and loads more of diffrent teams and talents all experienced in different things.

Opening Ceremony

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

openingYesterday the well directed opening ceremony was shown to the whole of this years Essex international Jamboree. The whole activity arena was full with buzzing excitement from the scouts and guides enjoying themselves at the 2008 Essex Jamboree. The song and dance kicked off on the stage and the flag runners added a bit of colour to the festivities with their specially made Jambo flags. The Orange Coats explained to all of us why we were here-to help save the worlds endangered species-and of course we had an unpleasant visit from Pete the Poacher. All in all I think the opening ceremony was a great success and I hope you all enjoy the Essex International Jamboree 2008.
